From Runway to Glamour: The Possibilities of Modeling
Though it is a competitive industry in every aspect, a fashion design college will teach you that there are several different approaches to a professional career in the fashion industry. Aside from accessories and apparel designers, there are people that specialize in merchandising, marketing, public relations, event coordinating, brand development, trend prediction, editing and fashion journalism, photography and of course, modeling. Though modeling is just one niche in the larger-than-life fashion industry, the inner-workings of the modeling world have proven to be complex, with multiple specialized niches of their own. There are several different types of models, and different purposes of modeling. Listed below are several examples of the varying types of of modeling, what the requirements are and if you can meet them.
High Fashion Modeling: This fashion modeling is often the basis for the stereotypical view of a model that most people have in their heads. Fashion models usually work with elite, fashion designers, or very upscale makeup and beauty companies. Perhaps what has created the stereotype is that these fashion models have a very specific look which top-labels consider the "ideal woman". They are usually a minimum of 5'9 and are extremely thin (size 0's are not uncommon). They model the most expensive, well-made clothes and beauty products, and top designers often design clothes with the specific high fashion model's body in mind. High fashion modeling is cutthroat and competitive, however these models make the most money out of all models in the industry, and some even revolutionize the fashion world to the point where they become studied subjects in fashion school classrooms.
Runway Modeling: Runway modeling often coincides with high fashion modeling, though the focus is obviously on the model's ability to travel gracefully down a runway, rather than just to pose in still photos. Once again, runway models are almost always tall, leggy and extremely slender. They also must feel comfortable walking, dancing (or even running) and just moving in general in very high heels and in all types of clothes, often including lingerie. During their runway shows, designers rely heavily on their runway models' ability to showcase their garments, so models working for top designers are also extremely well-paid for their work.
A Few Models of Women’s Mountain Bikes That You Can Choose
There are a great variety of women's mountain bikes to choose from when you are looking around for one. All of these bikes are all specially designed for both beginners and professional women.
Models of mountain bikes
Models are designed specifically for the type of mountain biking being done, including cross- country, downhill, four-cross, all mountains, etc. The most popular manufacturers of women's mountain bikes include Trek, Titus Cycles, and Gary Fisher Bikes. All of these companies also issue recommendations on the type of model that suits your planned use.
Choosing the best women's mountain bike can be quite complicated. Each of these manufactures can offer up to five models to select from. While there are more models available in the men's bicycles, women's choices are just catching up now. It won't take long for the women's market to catch up if their popularity continues to soar.
Some of the top models are discussed below.
SyCip Classical
They are well designed for women, with a focus on comfort. For the casual ride, either around the city or on dusty roads, a mountains bike like the SyCip women's classical is more comfortable. It carries an affordable price tag, and has streamlined top and bottom tubes that make the bicycle light and manageable. So it gives better handling on those bumpy terrains
Specialized Safire
The Specialized Safire is an ideal bike meant for any woman who wants to have just the perfect companion for those downhill trails. It provides everything- style, color, sturdiness, and, most importantly, a smooth ride. It can also be tuned in a way to make pedaling and shock absorption very efficient.
Fashion Tips: The Long the Short and the Ugly
Twiggy was the swinging 60's top model and is still going strong as the face of Marks and Spencer, a mid price range UK high street shop. She has recently pronounced that only the very thin or the very young can get away with wearing a mini-skirt. So, where does that leave the rest of us mere mortals? Actually, if you can remember when Twiggy hit the scenes you should have hung up your mini-skirt years ago! In fact, if middle aged spread has hit your knees, and unless you are Demi Moore and can afford to have them liposuctioned, then you are probably quite happy covering them up.
Long skirts seem to be predominant on the catwalks this season but can everybody carry them off? If you are a businesswoman, for example, turning up for that so important business meeting wearing a skirt down to your ankles, will mean you probably won't be taken too seriously. You could end up looking like an ageing hippy and when were hippies ever taken seriously? Although we ladies may hate to admit it, in the business world, women have to dress smartly and elegantly to merit consideration. I am not saying that you won't get noticed in a mini skirt and a low cut top but that is that the kind of notice you really want to get? A jacket or blouse with a tailored knee skimming skirt is more the look to go for. It makes you appear like a grown up (even if you don't always feel like one!) whereas a long skirt gives you more of the "little girl dressing up as a princess" image. But please, avoid calf length outfits if you have slightly thickened ankles.
But, a long skirt or dress for evening wear is perfect as it does indeed make you feel more feminine and princessy and the added bonus is that it can cover up a multitude of real or imaginary imperfections such as pudgy knees and those "oops, should have booked a wax" legs without having to resort to hideous thick granny tights! If you are a petite woman under 1 metre 60 cms then if you must wear a long dress, do wear high heels otherwise you will look even shorter! After all the look you are surely seeking is Snow White not one of the seven dwarves!
